Be more interesting. This is a note to self on things to keep in mind every day. Life is there for us to use and enjoy at our will. Being interesting isn’t a job of life, it’s an option. Images & text by Jessica Hagy / Forbes.

1. Go exploring.
Explore ideas, places, and opinions. The inside of the echo chamber is where are all the boring people hang out.
Continue reading to see more suggestions.

2. Share what you discover.
And be generous when you do. Not everybody went exploring with you. Let them live vicariously through your adventures.

3. Do something, Anything.
Dance. Talk. Build. Network. Play. Help. Create. It doesn’t matter what you do, as long as you’re doing it. Sitting around and complaining is not an acceptable form of “something” in case you were wondering.

4. Embrace your innate weirdness.
No one is normal. Everyone has quirks and insights unique to themselves. Don’t hide these things—they are what make you interesting.

5. Have a cause.
If you don’t give a damn about anything, no one will give a damn about you.

6. Minimize the swagger.
Egos get in the way of ideas. If your arrogance is more obvious than your expertise, you are someone other people avoid.

7. Give it a shot.
Try it out. Play around with a new idea. Do something strange. If you never leave your comfort zone, you won’t grow.

8. Hop off the bandwagon.
If everyone else is doing it, you’re already late to the party.Do your own thing, and others will hop onto the spiffy wagon you built yourself. Besides, it’s more fun to drive than it is to get pulled around.

9. Grow a pair.
Bravery is needed to have contrary opinions and to take unexpected paths. If you’re not courageous, you’re going to be hanging around the water cooler, talking about the guy who actually is.

10. Ignore the scolds.
Boring is safe, and you will be told to behave yourself. The scolds could have, would have, should have. But they didn’t. And they resent you for your adventures.

I knew that there was a reason for keeping all these magazines.

Finally someone (Sut Kutusu) came with a great idea for them, and I just can't wait to get it done.

And here we are, some months after we begun this adventure, we can finally show the result of the latest Movicel campaign.

We're really proud of it, and really happy about the opportunity of working with Jacaranda Films, and the Director Pablo Casacuberta. It was an amazing experience, with an amazing team.

And, of course, we must thank to Movicel, for this opportunity of doing something amazing, for a great company, and in an incredible country.

Here you can see the first three movies:

In one of my latest trips, to Buenos Aires, and while I was looking for good argentinian music, my good friend Rosario Massot shared with me Kevin Johansen.

I've a lot of reasons to like his music, specially Mc Guevara & Che Donalds, but one of the first things that I really enjoyed was this music, that in the end is about branding. At least, it is a way of looking to it.

Enjoy:

I really love Leica. I know that this is not original, but it is the true.

They're special. They are also expensive. But having and using a Leica is always special and different.

Today I found two videos at Wanken, and it is wonderful to see how carefully built are theses pieces of art.

In the past week, since EDP launched their new brand, a lot of designers, or just people interested in branding, came with all kind of "like/don't like" opinions.

I won't comment on any, since I believe that probably most of them have a bit of reason. But I can give my opinion: I like.

And why? Because we need fun brands. We need brands that bring us some joy, some happiness, specially in these hard times we live. I like brands that work that are modular, that can be applied in a lot of different ways.

EDP is a successful portuguese company, that is getting more and more global. I also believe that this is a good way of helping Portugal getting out of this big hole: go out, and show how good we are.

And, of course, I really admire Sagmeister.

In here you can see a really nice post on this new brand, in the always updated Brand New.

You can also download the brand guidelines (also something new) in here.

/ I Remember

/ NAD/ Research and Design Centre

/ 9.30 AM - 1.00 PM/ 2.00 PM - 6.30 PM (from Monday to Friday)

There are different ways to define or remember our visit to places that, for some reason, are meaningful to us.

This is part of my collection from past years, from the several travels I've made and the way that I keep them.

Posters always have a special meaning for a designer. They are the summary of graphic design in a space with a very well-defined boundary.

There are no pages. Just one sheet. A screen. Something to stop and look. Something that perpetuates an event. A place. A moment.

This is my collection.

Nuno Abreu, Designer.
